CSYFA October Newsletter

by Carol Stream Youth Football Association, 2019-10-08T06:33:42.000-07:00October 08 2019, at 06:33 AM PDT

Here Comes October Panthers!

The kids have all been working their tails off and we look forward to the teams having their end of season final regular season games, the end of season Classic games, and for those divisions (9U, 11U, and Varsity) that have it, playoff games. We look forward to continued success by all the teams.

The CSYFA Cares campaign had a very special month in September. Last month thanks to an anonymous donation CSYFA was able to collect US$170.00 for Childhood Cancer. This month we are now collecting for the National Breast Cancer Foundation at all our home games (regular season and playoffs).
The parking lot construction at Red Hawk has now completed and hopefully by now everyone has seen the big change in the entrance and exit. Please make sure not to park on the side of the Wayne Township Building as they have called the police a couple times already with their new security camera system. Also as the weather as of late has been wet the Carol Stream Park District has closed the park for practices a few times. Please remember that CSYFA does try to get this information out timely but due to the fact that the Park district does not update their website until after 3:30pm and all us volunteers are usually working our jobs there could be some delays in getting that information circulated.

As we all have started to see these past few weeks the weather has been very unstable and at times very wet. Please make sure your children are being sent to practice or games with the proper attire for the weather.

Lastly we have our October CSYFA Board Meeting on Monday October 14, 2019 at 8pm which is held at Simkus. We will be having a Carol Stream Park District representative on hand to discuss the new Affiliate Agreement that CSYFA is having to sign this year. This new agreement will most likely lead to our first registration rates increase in over 15 years. As we have tried to keep the rates at their current prices for many years we simply will not be able to you as we move into 2020.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

“There is only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything” —Vince Lombardi Joe Vasquez started his football career with the Carol Stream Youth Football Association when he was only 5 years old. Working his way up through the program, Joe faced many challenges – for those of you with a son that is a stripper, you know the constant struggle. Joe has never let those circumstances stop him. Joe has played on the varsity team at Glenbard North since his sophomore year. Last year as a Junior, he was named First Team All-Conference, and All-Area for DuPage Valley Conference. Joe was also part of the Glenbard North varsity team that made it to the second round of the IHSA Class 7A playoffs in November of last year. In a write up about Joe, Dave Oberhelman of the Daily Herald stated that “His athleticism and his football IQ made him an expert at pulling down the line on trap plays and sweeps”. During a two-part process that began last year at USA Football Camp, Joe was selected to play for Team USA. He took part in intense training sessions that occupied him from morning till night. Earlier this year, Joe was chosen to be a part of the United States Under – 17 National Team that beat Japan (44 – 7) in the eight International Bowl. The game took place at the AT&T Stadium – home to the Dallas Cowboys. A dream come true for him. Joe accredits his success to the support of his family, friends, and the Carol Stream Youth Football Association Panthers. Colleges that have shown interest in Joe are Northwestern, Kansas State, Miami of Ohio, and South Dakota State. Joe is proof that if you give it your all, you will succeed. Picture of Joe will be in the Photo Albums section of the website. If there are any Past Panthers that would like to note some positive outcomes in life that can be attributed to their experiences with the Carol Stream Youth Football program please email to teddost@yahoo.com.

"Confidence doesn't come out of nowhere. It's a result of something...hours and days and weeks and years of constant work and dedication" - Roger Staubach Over the next two weeks, we'd like to take the opportunity to highlight a couple of our own. These boys have started their football journey with the Carol Stream Youth Football Association. Committing themselves to hours of "constant work and dedication" their football careers are taking them to the next level. They are PANTHERS. DANIEL BERRY first played with the CSYFA in the 6th grade. During the 8th grade, his coaches recommended him to the USA Football's regional camp which took place last year. Daniel not only worked with the elite high school coaches, he also worked with college coaches on technique and fundamentals. Because of his performance at the regional camp, he was invited to play offensive line at USA Football's developmental games in Canton, OH. The camp took place over 5 days, and included players from all over the country. Based on his performance there, coaches then invited Daniel to the USA Football's U14 National Team. Daniel was able to play as part of the USA Football's International Bowl which took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX. The pace and intensity of the practices and games were at college level. The opportunity to play against the Japan Team has been a highlight of Daniel;s football career thus far. His Mom, Linda Berry, believes that CSYFA has provided Daniel with confidence, skills, and qualities that led to his selection to the USA Football's Team. Up next week......JOE VAZQUEZ. If you have a Panther player you'd like for us to highlight please send us their story. It gives kids an opportunity to read about players like themselves, and to show that hard work really does pay off. Also note as the website is a little tricky I am still working to get pictures of these players posted, please be patient.
